 독특한 어항입니다. 프랑스 디자이너 Benjamin Graindorge의 작품이구요, 사실 어항이라기 보다, 화분 이라고 하는게 맞을지도 모르겠구요, 두가지 요소를 합해 놓은 독특한 제품 디자인 입니다.

 위 사진에서 흰 구체 안에 있는 여과 시스템이 화분에서 생기는 오염물들을 걸러내어 아래쪽의 어항으로 깨끗한 물을 공급해 줍니다. Duende Studio라는 곳의 작품으로, 이 여과 시스템만 디자이너가 아닌 타 회사에서 만들었습니다.

 이 Floating Garden은 6월 25일 - 7월 25일 사이에 파리에서 열리고 있는 Forum Diffusion에서 구매 가능하다고 합니다. 링크 걸어 두었으니 위 사이트에서 더 정보를 찾아보시는 것도 좋을 듯 싶어요.

 Floating Garden의 특징 중 하나가, 인공적인 재료를 배제했다는 점인데, 위에서 보인 여과 시스템에 사용된 재료는 100%자연산의 모래와 식물류로 구성되었어요. 자연물로만 어떻게 여과 시스템을 만드는가 싶지만 자정작용을 생각하면 큰 무리는 아닐지도 모르겠습니다. 어떤 원리로 돌아가는 여과 시스템인지 세세히는 잘 모르겠습니다^^;;

 Floating Garden은 단순한 두가지 테크닉 만으로, 화분에서 나올 수 있는 유해한 물질들을 배제하는 시스템을 만들어 냈습니다.

 1 - 모래층을 이용한 여과 : 탱크에 저장된 물이 펌프로 쏘아져 위로 올라가면, 모래 층에 있는 유익한 박테리아들이 물 속의 찌꺼기들을 분해하여 기존의 유해한 성분을 화분 토양에 거름이 되는 유익한 물질들로 바꿉니다.

 2 -  Aquaponics : 위의 과정에서 생긴 거름들로 인해, 식물의 성장이 촉진되고, 순환되는 물들은, 자라난 식물들 덕분에 여과작용이 더 좋아져서 아래쪽 탱크에 더 깨끗한 물이 공급됩니다.
**이런 시스템을 Aquaponics라고 하더군요. . .

 단순한 이 두개의 과정이 무한 반복되면서, 탱크에 깨끗한 물이 계속 공급되는 구조입니다.

***일반 대중에게는 2010년 봄에 플라스틱, 세라믹 버젼으로 나뉘어 출시된다고 합니다. 여러 번의 시행착오를 거쳤다는데, 아무래도 관건은 저 여과 시스템이겠죠. 지속적인 자정 작용을 어떻게 만들어 냈는지, 신기하기만 합니다. - by MDZ.

 밀라노 디자인 위크 09에서 선보인  Yamagiwa의 디자이너 Yukio Hashimoto가 디자인한 스탠드 'Moonbird' 입니다.

 " 이 램프를 디자인 할 때 달빛을 받으며 유유히 날아가는 새의 이미지를 떠올리며 작업했습니다"

 기본적으로 전체 바디가 휘어진 나무 소재군요. 머리부분은 최대한 심미적인 부분을 해치지 않기 위해 아주 얇은 패널을 썼구요. 마치 조각을 해놓은 듯한 스탠드 디자인 이군요. . . 일본적인 정갈한 스타일에 첨단 기술이 잘 조화되었지요? ^ㅇ^?

 스웨덴의 디자인 스튜디오 Humans since 1982에서 24개의 아날로그 시계를 합친 디지털 시계를 디자인 했습니다.

 디지털 시계 숫자를 보면 숫자 하나하나에 여백이 있는데, 아날로그 시계로 잘 표현해 냈네요.

 아날로그 시계의 바늘들이 꼬물꼬물 거리다가 디지털시계의 숫자로 형상되어가는 과정들이 인상적이네요.

 프로토 타입의 Clock Clock이 Göteborg의 Rhösska design museum에서 6월 중순부터 7월까지 전시될 예정이라고 합니다.


 사진상에서 일부만 보면 그저 평범한 표시지요. 그렇지만 조금만 멀리서 전체를 보면 '2' 라는 숫자가 번듯하게 표시 되네요. 뭐랄까, 작은 영역에서 큰 영역으로의 확대를 표현 한 듯해서 재밌습니다.

 기발한 시계 The Clock Clock이었습니다 - by MDZ

 'Wattcher'는 가정용 전기사용랑 계측계입니다. 네덜란드 회사Innovaders의 Marcel Wanders가 디자인 했구요 -

 플러그 부분은 일반 가전제품의 그것과 거의 비슷해 보입니다. 그리고 디스플레이쪽으로 전기 사용량이 체크되어 표시되는군요. 전기 요금 절약에 도움이 될 것으로 봅니다.

 전에 보지 못했던 특이한 디자인 제품입니다. 발상이 독특하네요. 이렇게 작고 휴대성과 범용성이 높은 제품으로 만들 생각을 어떻게 했을지 - ?? 비록 작은 플러그 + @이지만 덩치큰 전기 계측계의 역할을 대신한다는 점에서, 그리고 쉽게쉽게 확인 할 수 있다는 점에 의의가 있는 디자인이라고 봅니다.

 Marcel Wanders의 의도는 지금 화급한 에너지 위기 속에서 작은 가정 및 사무실에서 부터 에너지 절약을 꾀한 것으로 보입니다. 비단 이 제품 뿐만이 아니라 다른 제품들에서도 이러한 그의 신조가 적용되어 또 다른 디자인들을 선보이겠죠.

 '전기요금 전쟁'은 이미 시작되었습니다. 작은 가정이나 사무실뿐만 아니라 학교, 병원, 관공서 등등 공공장소에서도 에너지를 절약할 필요성이 있는 시대에 살고 있습니다. Wattcher는 '전기요금 전쟁'에서 승리할 수 있는 좋은 무기가 되리라고 보고 리뷰를 마치도록 하지요.

 블루투스 헤드셋이 처음 나왔을 때를 기억 하시나요? CF에서 문근영씨가 고개를 까딱~ 하는 모습이 인상적이었죠. 물론 그전에도 블루투스 헤드셋이란게 있었습니다만 이슈화 된건 그 때 부터가 아닐까 하네요.

 혹시 블루투스 헤드셋을 쓰고 계신가요?? 저는 블루투스 헤드셋을 별로 안좋아 합니다. 귀가 나쁜 탓도 있고, 없어도 크게 불편하지는 않고(있으면 편하겠지만..), 왠지 헤드셋으로 하는 통화는 집중이 잘 안될달까..? 여러가지 잡다한 이유가 있지만 역시 가장 큰 이유는 디자인이 별로여서 입니다.  한 때는 이어폰이나 미니기기쪽에 관심이 있어서 이것 저것 많이 써봤지만 한번도 헤드셋 종류는 써본 기억이 없네요. 워낙에 투박한 디자인들만 나왔는지라 무언가 구매할 때 가장 먼저 디자인을 보는 제 기준에는 탈락 될 수 밖에 없었지요.

 그런데 요즘에 나오는 헤드셋들은 알록달록 예쁜게 많이 나오더군요. 지금 소개할 디자인 제품은Jawbone이라는 제품인데, 햐 -

 갑자기 블루투스를 쓰고 싶어지게 하네요. 손이 덜덜덜... 지름신이 또 오시려고 하네요 -ㅅ- 에구..


 과연 깨끗한 음색을 들려줄 것인지. . .??? 이어폰, 헤드셋에서 무엇보다도 중요한건 아무래도 '음질' 이니까요. 일반적으로 블루투스 이어폰류는 음질이 안좋다고 하지만 블루투스 2.0을 요즘엔 다들 지원하니까 이제 옛말이죠. 일반적으로 쓰는 이어폰, 헤드셋과 비교해서 큰 차이점은 없더군요.


 아래 사진은 이전 모델의 Jawbone인데, 전체적인 형태는 같지만 크게 두가지가 바뀌었지요. 첫째는, 보조 고리를 없애고 귀에 잘 밀착되는 형태로 출력부 형태를 새롭게 디자인 한점. 둘째는 표면의 무늬가 바뀐점. 저는 이전 모델의 색과 무늬가 나은 듯 하네요. 아무래도 고채도의 색상을 쓴 새 모델은 별로라서. ..

 Fuseproject사는 Jawbone PRIME이 더 나은 음질과, 더 나은 착용감, 그리고 다양한 컬러 선택이 기존 헤드셋과의 차이점이라고 밝혔습니다. 이제 곧 여름도 오는데, 특히나 여성분들에게는 좋은 선택이 될 것 같네요. 포니테일 머리를 하고 생생한 컬러의 이 헤드셋을 귀에 꽂고 있으면 시선이 확 집중되면서 매력이 돋보일 것 같아요. 뭐 개인적인 바램 & 상상입니다. 흐~

 전자제품을 쓸 때, 특히 컴퓨터 같은 IT기기들을 사용하고 충전하고 할 때 멀티탭은 필수품이라고 할 수 있겠지요.

 일본의 디자이너 Arihiro Miyake는 기존의 멀티탭들의(아래 이미지) 이미지에서 과감히 탈피해서 천소재의 알록달록한 멀티탭을 디자인 했습니다.

 Trush In이란 이름의 이 멀티탭은 보시다시피 밝은 톤의 레드, 약간 가라앉은 느낌의 연두, 깔끔한 블랙 이렇게 세가지 색상이 있고, 하나의 멀티탭이 2개의 소켓을 제공합니다. 개인적으론 소켓이 좀 더 많아야 실용성이 있으리라고 보는데, 소켓이 많은 디자인도 얼마든지 나올 수 있겠죠.

 디자이너의 말에 따르면 -

 이 멀티탭이 스파케티처럼 널부러진 케이블들을 정리할 수 있는 좋은 해결책이 되리라고 합니다. 확실히 기존의 멀티탭과 다른 점은 누워있지 않다는 것이겠죠. . .세워져 있는 형태가 깔끔한 선 정리에는 더 도움이 되리라고 봅니다. 

 Arihiro Miyake의 새로운 가구 컬렉션이 3월 22일~27일 동안 Milano Furniture Fair 2009의 Salone Satellite에서 전시했었습니다. Arihiro Miyake는 대단히 부분적인 요소들에 예술적인 감각을 불어넣을 줄 아는 디자이너 같습니다.

 위 제품 역시도 밀라노 디자인 위크 2009에 출품된 제품인데, 기존의 굽어지고 돌아가는 스탠드가 아닌 지지대의 위치에 따라 조명이 이동하는 새롭고 유쾌한 생각을 해낸 좋은 디자인이군요.


 개인적인 경험에 비추어 얘기하자면 - 어릴 적 보던 동화책에서는 2010년의 모습이 정말 다.이.나.믹. 하게 묘사 되었는데 막상 2010년이 코앞에 있는 이 시점에서 보면 20년 전 어릴적이나 지금이나 별반 다를게 없다는 생각이 드네요. 
  그렇지만 우리가 생각하는 미래적인 풍경들, 미래적인 삶, 미래적인 제품들은 위와 같은 '진일보'한 디자인에서 나오는게 아닐까 생각하면서 이 좋은 디자인 제품에 대한 소개를 마치도록 하지요.

 1999년에, 고베 디자인 대학을 졸업하고 2002년에 헬싱키 예술디자인 대학에서 가구 디자인을 전공, 후에 Studio Ilkka Suppanen과 다른 스튜디오에서 일하다가, 2004년에 헬싱키에서 “Studio Arihiro Miyake”를 설립.

 모던 미니멀리즘의 대가인 'Philippe Starck'! 지 - 쇼크사와 합작한 이 시계 역시 대가다운 면모를 유감없이 보여주는데요, 이 'Veiled Watch'는 아날로그적 감성과 디지털 적인 느낌을 잘 융합한 '디지로그' 적인 제품 디자인을 보여줍니다. 전체적인 디자인은 '팔찌'같은 느낌을 주는군요. 모든 부분들이 일종의 '링'과 같은 형태를 취하고 표면이 평평해서 그런 느낌이 드는 것 같습니다. 용골(시간 조정시에 누르고 돌리는 버튼) 외부에 드러나지 않고 보이지 않는 안쪽에 위치해 미니멀리즘의 기본을 확실히 지킨 듯 합니다.

Prague design studio Novague have proposed a rocking chair containing a dynamo that powers a reading light.

The rocking motion is converted to electricity that powers the light.

Move Your Energy is a power-independent rocking chair with a LED lamp designed especially for reading. The lamp is run by dynamo which changes the mechanic energy obtained by rocking to electric energy. You produce energy needed for lighting on your own.

A simple kinematic arrangement is placed beneath the seat. Mechanism is similar to those used in steam engines and it works together with a sliding lever that runs a flywhell disc while you rock. Produced energy is either deposited in batteries or it supplies the LED lamp.

The principal aims of this concept were to arouse a discussion about „How to achieve the energetic self-sufficiency in the future“ and to make public think about how much energy we could save if we produce energy needed for common day-to-day activities on our own and moreover by amazing and spontaneous way that is friendly to enviroment.

**Zine : 에너지 송신에 관해 - 지금은 에너지 송신이라고 하면 100%유선 일 수 밖에 없을텐데, 그러다 보니 미적인 부분도 조금씩 해치고, 가까운곳에 전력을 공급하지 않는 이상(예를 들면, 의자옆에 걸 수 있는 작은 전기기구 같은것..) 이 Move your energy라는 장치는 그다지 좋은 효율이 있다고 생각하지는 않는다.

design miami/ is curating an event outside its own territories in a unique partnership with fendi.
taking place during the salone del mobile in milan, 'craft punk’ will expand on the design
performance programme that is a highlight of design miami/.

craft is an area of design production that designers often turn to in the early stages of their careers.
‘craft punk’ will transform the 750 square meter spazio fendi into an active environment for social
interaction, unruly intellectual inquiry and actionbased design processes by inviting emerging designers
to work within traditional, or hand-made, craft methods. the designers can use discarded materials
from the fendi production process, such as selleria leather, branded fabrics, plastic decorative elements,
and metal hardware. demonstrating the creation process live and onsite, they will reinvent the way
a process or material is typically employed.

the designers contributing to ‘craft punk’ include kwangho lee, massimiliano adami, nacho carbonell,
peter marigold, raw-edges, sarah becker, simon hasan, studio glithero, studio libertiny, and yuri
suzuki + household. a truly international mix of talents, they come from as far afield as japan, denmark,
italy, israel, slovakia, spain, the netherlands, south korea, germany and the UK.

Architect Norman Foster has designed the interior and exterior of an aeroplane called Falcon 7X for private jet company NetJets.

Foster used a cream and tan colour scheme for the passenger cabin, which is intended for business meetings, sleeping and dining.

Crew areas are fitted out in grey and black.

A NEW BLUEPRINT FOR BUSINESS AVIATION
NetJets Europe commissions Lord Norman Foster 
to design its new Falcon 7X fleet.

In an industry first, Europe’s leading business jet operator, NetJets Europe, has recruited Pritzker prize winning architect, Lord Norman Foster, to design the interior and exterior of its newest and most advanced aircraft, the Falcon 7X.

In 2007 NetJets placed the largest order in business aviation history with manufacturer Dassault, which will see 33 Falcon 7X aircraft added to its fleet over the next eight years. To mark this unprecedented $1.5 billion investment, NetJets commissioned architect, pilot and NetJets’ customer, Lord Foster, to create a jet that takes the business aviation experience to a new level. The company believes the selection of Lord Foster will ensure that the NetJets 7X will have an enduring and lasting sensibility.

Lord Foster did a tremendous amount of research for this project. He talked extensively to NetJets’ clients and crew to get a well rounded perspective. The result is an aircraft that is serene on the inside and sleek and striking on the exterior. As an architect, he approached the design from a holistic perspective, and each of the resulting design choices were made to create a superior travel experience.

The interior of the NetJets 7X is thematically zoned into a well-being space for customers and a work space for crew. The passenger cabin is light and tranquil featuring a cream and tan colour scheme and Fiddleback Sycamore wood fittings. Lord Foster redesigned the seating arrangements based on how NetJets owners and passengers use the aircraft, gearing it towards business meetings and an enhanced sleeping and dining experience. In contrast, the work area around the galley has an industrial feel, featuring a grey and black colour scheme, a marked contrast from generic aircraft design. Foster uses robust materials such as carbon fibre for the galley and crew areas.

Although not originally commissioned to consider the exterior of the jet, Lord Foster evolved his design to include the aircraft’s livery. His design of a bold, dark blue horizontal stripe unifies the windows of the cockpit and cabin, giving the aircraft a sleeker form. NetJets Europe has elected to introduce Foster’s design as its new livery across its entire 160-strong fleet.

Commenting on the project, Lord Foster said, “The NetJets 7X is a major aviation milestone in terms of the sheer size of the order. It’s literally a fleet within the NetJets fleet and therefore I felt that this significance should manifest visually both internally and externally.”

“Working on a jet was a new challenge for me and one that I accepted unhesitatingly when NetJets approached me. It presented the opportunity to apply my professional expertise, my passion for aviation and my experience as a NetJets customer to one of the world’s most exciting aircraft.”

Mark Booth, Executive Chairman, NetJets Europe said: “Design is an area that has been given precious little attention in the world of business aviation. Whether a NetJets owner wants their journey across Europe or the Atlantic to be peaceful or productive, the personal and intuitive touches added by Lord Foster to the Falcon 7X will meet their needs in a way never seen before in aviation.”

The Falcon 7X is one of the aviation industry’s most anticipated aircraft, featuring increased fuel efficiency, the most advanced flight control system currently in use and the ability to fly long range, linking virtually all of the most desired city pairs including London to New York and Paris to Tokyo.

The NetJets 7X will be available on the NetJets Europe Owner Programme which is based on the concept of fractional ownership. The scheme allows Owners to buy a share of an aircraft equal to the anticipated number of hours flying each year, starting with as little as 1/16th of an aircraft (50 hours).
